Irvine and Dreghorn are certainly not Brassed Off!

Irvine and Dreghorn are certainly not Brassed Off!

Last weekend the brass banding community came together to compete in the Scottish Brass Band Championships at Perth Concert Hall, Perth. Irvine & Dreghorn Brass, headed by new conductor, Helen Douthwaite, headed to Perth on Saturday morning to compete in their section against steep competition, to play the testpiece, “Evolution” by Philip Sparke.

The band are delighted to announce that down to the hard work of all, they came 2nd in their section which entitles them to represent Scotland by completing against the best bands in Britain and the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham in September. This is a huge honour and accomplishment!

Over the next few months the Band will therefore be fundraising furiously to allow them to represent Scotland, and would welcome any support the community, local organisations and businesses could give them. This can be in any form, such as sponsorship, raffle prizes or just supporting or advertising the band’s events.

The Band’s next event, organised before the result on Saturday, is their Black & Gold Ball which will take place on Saturday 25 April rom 6.45pm, at the Menzies Hotel in Irvine. They’d love for this event to be a huge success to get the fundraising ball rolling!

Tickets are £27.50 and include a 3 course meal, and live band, Addiction (Addiction Band Scotland) to boogie the night away to.

The Band’s resident photographer, Linda from Personally Yours Photography will be in attendance to take group, single and couple shots should you wish a memory of the night! And attendees can access a special twin/double room rate of £50 B&B.
